SATURDAY TREND SPOTTING 》FALL PASTEL COATS

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6

Pastel's are here to stay!  By that, I mean not only will you see them in Spring, but they are hot for Fall!  In particular, pastels are making a huge statement in staple pieces such as winter coats, trench coats, blazers and my favorite - leather jackets.  I'm loving this Pastel Blue Faux Leather Moto Jacket, and what better way to rock this look but with a leather jacket?!  It's all about standing out from the crowd.  You will not go unnoticed with colors like yellow, lavender and pink screaming from your coat!  If you feel reluctant to go all out sporting a pastel winter coat, try it with this Pastel Pink Blazer.  The point is to have fun with it, that's what color is all about!

WHERE TO SHOP IN DALLAS

Every other week I will introduce my favorite boutiques in Dallas at which I love to shop.  The best part is that most places now offer online shopping, which is great for you out-of-towners.  To get the ball rolling, let's start with a little boutique called Milk & Honey Boutique.

How cute is this store?  Established in June of 2011, Brittany York brought her boutique to life creating an atmosphere crossed with her feminine style to her eclectic and whimsy taste.  Milk & Honey offers quality and on trend fashion at affordable prices, so the women of Dallas don't have to worry about looking at the price tag.  You get the feel of a high-end department store with walls of lights and birch branches to cowhide rugs, but at a price that's easy on the wallet.  Almost everything in the store is under $100!  From apparel and shoes to jewelry and candles - you will find everything under the sun at this artistic inspiring boutique.  Be sure to check it out next time you're in Dallas, it's on Henderson Ave.  Also, don't forget to check out their website here to shop some of the most popular items from their store.  Here's some of my favorites.

WHAT'S IN A CAFTAN?

The answer is, EVERYTHING!  Not only is this my vacation uniform, but I wear them all the time during Spring and Summer here in Texas.  It's the simplest thing to wear especially on these hot and humid days.  During the day I'll pair them with flip flops and sunglasses and at night, some high wedges and stacks of bracelets.  Here's me wearing my favorite caftan out to dinner Saturday night.

This one that I'm wearing is Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent, you can get it here.  It is completely sheer, but it comes with a slip so it's no problem.  I absolutely love it!  Take a look below at some of my other favorite caftans!

My favorite is the middle Rachel Roy one.  It's so glamorous and carefree at the same time!  Enjoy!

EMPHASIS ON COLOR: TEAL

Teal is everywhere and will be huge for this Fall season.  This not quite green, not quite blue color has emerged as a universally flattering color favored by runways all across the world.  This color is great for head-to-toe looks in various shades in tonal varieties.  Within this color story you will find mixes of teal, turquoise and alpine green which creates a fresh hybrid from last fall.  These new seasonal shades offers a more sophisticated blend and are moving away from the playful, tropical sea-foam shades of last season.  These are my picks of some teal favorites in stores now, happy shopping!

INSTAGRAM FILES : MY BIRTHDAY WEEKEND

This past Sunday was my 28th birthday!  It's unreal to think I'm 28 years old.  I still feel like I'm 21.  Regardless, it was great spending it with my husband having a nice and relaxing pool day.  We've had wonderful weather lately here in Dallas (when I say wonderful, I mean for once it wasn't over 100 degrees) so a pool day was not completely unbearable.  Afterwards we jetted off to dinner at my favorite place, Maggianos.  It was lovely - great food and romantic ambiance - couldn't ask for anything more.  Once we got home, my husband sang happy birthday to me and gave me my cake.  This was his attempt at baking me a cake, but I say it's the thought that counts!  He's actually a fantastic cook.  This was just a freak accident!  He really does spoil me, if buying me the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 wasn't enough, he surprised me with all new watercolor art supplies.  I absolutely love it all and thanks to everyone that made my birthday so enjoyable.

FRIDAY STEALS AND DEALS - ALL UNDER $85

1. I always love an animal print especially with a hint of ikat - this sweater is perfect!
2. These high waisted pants are fantastic for Fall - very flattering silhouette and color.
3. Talk about a perfect Fall bag - this color-block satchel has it all and who doesn't love tassels?
4. Sweaters galore - ASOS.com has so many cute ones.  How unique is this floral print sweater?  I love the sheen this casts.
5. Well Fall's not complete without a cute sweater dress paired with boots - ankle or tall.
6. OK, so I'm really diggin' the matchy printed suit trend - although many can look too dressy, this floral suit creates a more casual look because it's actually paired with a bomber jacket instead of a blazer.
7. And I couldn't finish a post about Fall fashion without mentioning one of my favorite things - flat ankle boots!  I like to pair these with flowy feminine dresses to "edge" up my outfit.

Happy shopping and happy Friday!

SEQUIN STRIPES

Top: J.CREW (this one is also cute) // Pants: Forever 21 (these are similar) // Shoes: REPORT (old) // Watch: Michael Kors (sold out - limited edition) // Bracelets: J.CREW

Who says you can't wear sequins during the day?  I say - do it!  I love combining prints and I think the stripes of the top and the tribal print of the pants play nice off each other.  I just love this sequin top from J.CREW.  I got it on major sale which is a big plus in my book.  I also really love this one and the print is gorgeous!  Would you wear sequins during the day?  On another note, the weather here in Texas is getting out of control.  Who else is ready for Fall?  Also, if you haven't done so already, please follow me on Bloglovin'!!

FALL / WINTER 2013 COLOR FORECAST

Rich wine shades have depth and texture to reflect this season’s emotional and luxurious aspects.  Vivacious and Beaujolais operate as a berry duo lending velvety expression.  Highlights of Samba Red lift the palette to create a sumptuous finish.

Orange along with brown and tan are essential tones for this season, drawing together military references and antique luxury nuances.  Varying tones from brass to pale gold create variation between the light and dark.

Retro green hues become completely contemporary in fresh varieties.  Fantastical themes bring newness to this collection and inspire frivolity and playfulness.  The ever so popular Emerald Green is vibrant and definite, and represents a new take on green for fall/winter.  Linden and Deep Lichen Green are searing and warm lending an unexpected touch to this palette.

Purple continues to reign this season, acting as a versatile hue that can represent both regal and somber approaches.  Acai Purple is vibrant and strong, echoing the legacy of royal rulers.

Blues become murky and unclear in rich teal variations for fall and winter.  Rather than the classic and reliable blue tones, this season’s option offers a more emotive and poetic response. Mykonos Blue is a mix of ink blue and turquoise to create a classic teal tone that works for this season.  Let’s not forget about Turbulence Grey which brings the entire palette together.  I personally love this palette and think it's spot on with what we saw on the runway.  What do you think?

MY DREAM VACATION

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5

Is it just me, or is it vacation time?  I'm eager to start planning our next vacation.  Knowing that we can't afford anything outrageous right now, here's my top 5 dream vacations.  Oh how I would love to see the land down under.  I hear the beaches are just amazing, but I'm not sure about swimming in the ocean though (too many great whites!), or maybe that's just because shark week was last week!  Now who doesn't want to go to Paris?!  I want to experience it at least once in my life.  As for the rest of Europe, Spain is my next choice as well as cruising the Mediterranean.  Bora Bora...what can I say?  It's gorgeous, has crystal turquoise water and it's right on top of the water - I'm pretty sure staying at the Four Seasons is on every body's bucket list and I can definitely see why.  What's your dream vacation?  I would love to know!

BEAUTY PRODUCTS I'M DYING TO TRY

I don't know about you, but I am always on the hunt for the next best thing.  Even if the products I currently use are working fine, I tend to think maybe these might be better.  I currently use Josie Maran's argan oil, but since this new light version came out I've wanted to try it.  If it really is a lighter formula, this might work better with my oily skin.  Yes, I have major oily skin.  Do any of you struggle with this issue?  I think I'm going to purchase this Meet Mark Matte Moisturizer to see how this works at controlling my oil.  I want to start using less products during the day, because the more I seem to layer on my face, the more oil I produce.  I never really wear a liquid foundation as I tend to stick to tinted moisturizers are BB creams, but this Boots No. 7 Matte Foundation has gotten good reviews and I'm curious to see how well it holds up.  How pretty is this Josie Maran Luminous Finishing Powder?  I love the packaging (which I'm a huge sucker for) but I'm still on the hunt for the perfect finishing powder so I really want to try this one.  Let's not forget about a little luxury now and then...this Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronzer has become extremely popular.  I know it's a splurge, but hey, I'm worth it!

YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT...

H&M

Did you know?   H&M finally has e-commerce.   That's right.  Ok, maybe it's not a big deal to you,  but to me, it is!  And to add to the excitement,  there's a home section now.  I've already selected a few items that I love.   On that note,  I did see a few things in the clothing section that I liked,  but not as much as I'd liked.   And another thing that worries me is that when shopping there at the store you seem to run into a lot of hits and misses.  So shopping online can be an issue if this is the case.  Such as the quality which in the store you can tell right away,  unlike online it may photograph well and you won't know until it arrives.  Regardless, here's a few things I'm seriously pondering over purchasing.  What do you think?   Will you go shopping online at H&M soon?

Gotta love pillows!  These are all great options.  I'm particularly loving the black and white atzec print option and would like to get a couple of those velvet ones too!  This Beautiful pillow is written out in sequins...very pretty!

1 / 2 / 3 / 4

What great little accessories to add to your collection.  These would look great on my bookshelves.  Hobnail vases are timeless and with this one being mercury glass it brings a vintage feel to your home.  Let's just hope the candle smells nice!

1  / 2 / 3

Let's not forget about the babies and kids.  This star quilt would fit in perfectly in my nephews nursery!  It's space themed!
