GO FLORAL!

When in doubt, go floral!  It is a never ending and timeless trend.  For Spring/Summer 2013, florals have sprung up on fashion runways all over the world.  Don't like floral prints?  Then this trend is not for you!  As hard as some try to get away from these prints, they seem to hit the scene every season.  If you don't like an all over print, like I did here, you could stick with a floral top (like this unique piece) or a pant like these that are mostly black with floral print down either side.  Designers love a floral print and so do I!  Enjoy!

TREND ALERTS 》FOR UNDER $100

Introducing to you some of the most popular trends of the season all for under $100!  I am just going crazy with all the options we have out there.  I must get this bright and colorful Mexican serape throw!  I already own 2 Mexican throws that I bought while in San Antonio, but they aren't as bright.  This will really pop against my black and white throw pillows on my sofa.  Kimonos are all the rage this summer.  As it gets so hot here in Texas, you might wonder why you would wear one, but they aren't as hot as you would think.  I constantly pair mine with shorts and a tank and if I get hot I just take it off and swing across my handbag.  The best accessory to wear while wearing your kimono is.....Turquoise Jewelry!  It brings a southwest flair to your outfit.  It's easy breezy and these pieces from Forever 21 will not break the bank!  Scarf prints have been trending for a while now, but haven't really caught my eye until now.  This maxi makes it look more regal and less "in your face" which I like.  As home interiors is my second love to fashion, I must mention the gold animal decor trend.  I already have a gold elephant on my book shelves (which you will see in an upcoming post showing you around my home) but this one from Furbish is very sleek and modern.  Hope you love these as much as I do!  Which is your favorite?

ALL ABOUT PRINTS

You can never go wrong with prints.  Especially with printed pants.  These from Nordstrom by RBL, have become my recent favorite pair to wear.  They are so comfortable and because they're a bit higher waisted, they are more flattering.  Here, I'm wearing a basic black tee, but to dress it up a little I threw a blazer over.  It's a real carefree look that is perfect for the office and the weekend.
This staple piece will take any look to the next level.  Hope you enjoy!

FRIDAY STEALS AND DEALS

J. Crew

Happy Friday!  Head on over to J.Crew to shop the sale section and take an additional 40% off.  What's so great about this sale is that it's both in-store and online.  So if you don't like paying shipping, just go to the store!  Here are some of my picks from the sale.  I think I might have to get that iPhone case and the striped tee.  I really love the embriodery detail at the bottom.  Enjoy and have fun!

DREAMIN' OF PASTELS

Even though it's not Spring anymore, pastels can still be worn in the summertime. Even so, pastels are a fashion staple. Mint green has been one of my all time favorite colors which is why I love these shorts. Pairing it with lavender or a periwinkle blue top is a great way to get your color-blocking on! Which brings me to my next topic - Color-blocking! Color-blocking is such an easy trend to accomplish. It's very fashion forward and chic. I tend to get a little crazy with this trend as I like to try a lot of different color combos, but I always think there's no wrong answer. I will definitely have more examples of this soon. In the meantime, a great way to tone it down a little if you're thinking it's too much is to pair the look with a nude shoe. Here I'm wearing heels to give me much needed height. I also went for a bold statement necklace which always add to a look especially one this sparkly! Have fun with it and remember, color is a great way to amp up your wardrobe, especially pastels!

WHAT INSPIRES ME?

The answer is EVERYTHING.  Inspiration...we are surrounded by it constantly.  No matter where I am or what I'm doing, I am always looking for inspiration.  There are many things in which I am inspired, including fashion, nature, culture, travel, art and design.  All of it just depends on what kind of mood I'm in that day.  Regardless, I love color!  It makes me feel good.  Don't get me wrong, I like my neutrals, but color is happiness.  Since I work in the fashion industry, playing with color is one of my favorites things to do.  And part of my job is to search for inspiration and document it with images.  With that said, here's a sneak peak of some of my inspiration mood pics.

TRIBAL FRENZY

I'm so excited to share with you my first outfit post.  I teamed up with my best friend and photographer, Jennifer Crenshaw, to create new looks for my readers.  I think they came out great and I am so pleased with the outcome.  Please head over to Jennifer's website to see her amazing work and all that she has to offer.  She specializes in weddings, portraits, events and artistic photography.  Take a look at the debut of our collaboration and let me know what you think!

Tribal prints are all the rage right now.  You can find them pretty much anywhere.
I went with this print in a maxi dress. Maxi dresses are usually way too long for me, except for this one! Considering I'm only 5' tall, that's a miracle. Of course I had to pair it with 4" heels. The chunky heel and intricate basket weave detail makes these a great fit with any tribal look. Dresses like these are so multi-functional and I love how this one has a slit which makes it incredibly comfortable. This one came with a belt which I chose to use, but you can easily remove it and replace it with one of your own. Pairing this with a bright coral blazer and long gold tassel necklace completes the look. And of course you can't forget sunglasses! How would you interpret the tribal trend? I would love to know your ideas!

DESIGNER CRUSH

Alice & Trixie

I have absolutely fallen in love with the designs of Alice & Trixie.  Angela Taylor George created Alice & Trixie in 1997.  Her bold and lively prints have this bohemian vibe that screams glam.  You will definitely stand out in one of her pieces.  Take a look at some of my picks from her Summer 2013 line.  You can see more here.

BARGAIN HUNTIN' SUCCESS

During the summer you're bound to come across sale after sale.  Well, last weekend I found some amazing deals!  Here's a sample of some of my favorite finds.

This tropical dress is from H&M.  It was marked down to $7!

I have this jacket 3 other colors.  That's how you can tell it's a great jacket.  Now I have this jacket in black and only paid $15!

I LOVE graphic tees, especially if they're unbelievably soft.  This one is from H&M marked down to $10!

Now let's move on to J.CREW.  All they're sale items were additional 40% off.  That's huge.  These belts were originally $32.50, then marked down to $9.99, then take 40% off - that's only $5.99 each!

This sweater from J.CREW is not really for summer, but I thought I would wear this all the time in the Fall.  At regular price this was $65.00, then marked down to $19.99, then take 40% off - that's $12.99!

This is the one I'm the most excited about.  How fun is this skirt?!  Now just look at the math.  Originally marked at $130, then the final mark down was $24.99, then take 40% off - that's $14.99!  Huge savings!

Now it's time for you to go bargain huntin'!  Here's a list of my favorite current sales going on right now!

1.  Piperlime is offering 20% off sitewide
2.    Banana Republic is offering 30% off sitewide
3.  J.CREW is offering 30% to 50% off select regular priced items

LET'S GET STYLIN'

Glad you stopped by!  Welcome to my new fashion and lifestyle blog.  Everyone has to start somewhere so why not start with my current obsessions?

I think it's safe to say I am pretty much crazy about printed pants!  Most importantly they are comfortable as no get out, but very stylish and fashion forward.  You can pair them with a graphic tee or with this see through daisy burnout top for a daring night on the town look.  No look is ready without gold accessories.  How cute is this initial dainty ring?  I think I might order the "T" version now.  Pair it with this "Texas" charm necklace and you're all set.  Obviously if you're not from Texas, you can choose whichever state you want.

Let's talk about home decor.  Colorful pillows can spruce up any living room or bedroom!  This dragon pillow is especially beautiful and compliments a wide array of color schemes.  Wall art is one of my favorite ways to decorate a room.  Adding one of these flamingo prints in a white frame will add a touch of whimsy to your home.

Stay tuned for more!
