BEST OF: LONDON FASHION WEEK S/S 14

First up - Burberry

Let's just start by saying, "WOW"!  I was completely in awe over this runway show.  This Burberry collection fused the sexy and the protective.  The mix of prints, sparkle, incredible heels, vibrant pastels and impeccable detail were all showstoppers.  Not to mention the amazing white sunglasses every girl would love for Spring.  Well done!

Next up - DAKS

This was my favorite look all around from the Daks runway show.  With the ever so popular 70s inspired silhouette, this iconic look stole the show in my opinion.  Where can I find those fantastic earrings?

Moving on to - Mulberry

With such great color combos using only orange, light blue, navy, black and a few more pastels, no wonder Mulberry is so loved.  That handbag was my favorite out of the show!  There was a definite aspiration to the sixties with shift dresses, brocade skirts and sweet suits which I adore.

On to - Tom Ford

Who doesn't love Tom Ford?  I do!  With leather becoming more and more popular in the spring and summer seasons, this show proved that leather is still going strong way past fall and winter.  But not just any kind of leather, LUXE leather.  We wouldn't expect any thing less!  Although I'm obsessed with this leather look, my eye went straight towards this super-charged short coral dress with sheer inserts.  Right up my alley!

Last, but not least - Temperley London

Where do I start?  Temperley was inspired by a holiday in Sicily which is quite obvious given the array of luxurious heavy silks and beautiful sheer fabrics.  This show was very glamorous and opulent to say the least without being overpowering.  But can you guess what stole the show?  It was the exquisite silhouettes and embellishments of each garment.  Trapeze shapes, dropped waists and exaggerated shoulders made for elegant, timeless dresses while crystal embellishments and embroidered flowers were breathtakingly beautiful.  The vibrant colors alone are enough to make this collection stand out.  Absolutely my favorite show hands down of London Fashion Week!

EMPHASIS ON COLOR 》BLACK + GOLD

Whether in fashion or home interiors, when rocking gold and black, let gold DOMINATE!  It will let others know you are fun and it's more flattering.  I wouldn't mix any other color here, just some gold earrings and you're all set.  You will add instant glam to your look when rocking this trend.  Wear a sleek black pump with a gold-tipped pointed toe like these for an on-trend fashion accessory for an easy fix to your wardrobe.  In your home, try adding a few of these prints from Made by Girl, they will add such a statement to your current decor.  You can't make any wrong choices here with this fashionable color combo, so have fun with it!

MY DREAM OFFICE

I positively cannot wait to create my very own home office space.  But right now this is just a dream considering our one bedroom apartment will not suffice.  Next year me and my husband hope to own our first house.  Soon after, let the preparation begin!  Here's a couple of my inspiration pics I've been lusting over lately.  Let's just say it will be white with tons of color.  If ya can't tell by now, I'm obsessed with color!

Saving the best for last, is this AMAZING workspace re-do by Edie of Life In Grace.  Check out her whole workspace here.  I adore her use of color and absolutely LOVE the big green work table in the middle.  This shows you what you can do with a small space that actually works and is efficient.  I say this because not only is this her office, but it also houses her washer and dryer!  I just can't say enough how happy this room makes me.  It sums up my home interior style to a T!

CURRENTLY INSPIRED BY: COLOR

Found these awesome images that really inspired me because of the bright and vibrant colors in each of them.  It makes me happy to look and search for color.  Being a designer, I think that's why I love working on color palettes and color trends come pre-season planning.  What are you currently inspired by?

EMPHASIS ON COLOR: TEAL

Teal is everywhere and will be huge for this Fall season.  This not quite green, not quite blue color has emerged as a universally flattering color favored by runways all across the world.  This color is great for head-to-toe looks in various shades in tonal varieties.  Within this color story you will find mixes of teal, turquoise and alpine green which creates a fresh hybrid from last fall.  These new seasonal shades offers a more sophisticated blend and are moving away from the playful, tropical sea-foam shades of last season.  These are my picks of some teal favorites in stores now, happy shopping!

FALL / WINTER 2013 COLOR FORECAST

Rich wine shades have depth and texture to reflect this season’s emotional and luxurious aspects.  Vivacious and Beaujolais operate as a berry duo lending velvety expression.  Highlights of Samba Red lift the palette to create a sumptuous finish.

Orange along with brown and tan are essential tones for this season, drawing together military references and antique luxury nuances.  Varying tones from brass to pale gold create variation between the light and dark.

Retro green hues become completely contemporary in fresh varieties.  Fantastical themes bring newness to this collection and inspire frivolity and playfulness.  The ever so popular Emerald Green is vibrant and definite, and represents a new take on green for fall/winter.  Linden and Deep Lichen Green are searing and warm lending an unexpected touch to this palette.

Purple continues to reign this season, acting as a versatile hue that can represent both regal and somber approaches.  Acai Purple is vibrant and strong, echoing the legacy of royal rulers.

Blues become murky and unclear in rich teal variations for fall and winter.  Rather than the classic and reliable blue tones, this season’s option offers a more emotive and poetic response. Mykonos Blue is a mix of ink blue and turquoise to create a classic teal tone that works for this season.  Let’s not forget about Turbulence Grey which brings the entire palette together.  I personally love this palette and think it's spot on with what we saw on the runway.  What do you think?

DREAMIN' OF PASTELS

Even though it's not Spring anymore, pastels can still be worn in the summertime. Even so, pastels are a fashion staple. Mint green has been one of my all time favorite colors which is why I love these shorts. Pairing it with lavender or a periwinkle blue top is a great way to get your color-blocking on! Which brings me to my next topic - Color-blocking! Color-blocking is such an easy trend to accomplish. It's very fashion forward and chic. I tend to get a little crazy with this trend as I like to try a lot of different color combos, but I always think there's no wrong answer. I will definitely have more examples of this soon. In the meantime, a great way to tone it down a little if you're thinking it's too much is to pair the look with a nude shoe. Here I'm wearing heels to give me much needed height. I also went for a bold statement necklace which always add to a look especially one this sparkly! Have fun with it and remember, color is a great way to amp up your wardrobe, especially pastels!

WHAT INSPIRES ME?

The answer is EVERYTHING.  Inspiration...we are surrounded by it constantly.  No matter where I am or what I'm doing, I am always looking for inspiration.  There are many things in which I am inspired, including fashion, nature, culture, travel, art and design.  All of it just depends on what kind of mood I'm in that day.  Regardless, I love color!  It makes me feel good.  Don't get me wrong, I like my neutrals, but color is happiness.  Since I work in the fashion industry, playing with color is one of my favorites things to do.  And part of my job is to search for inspiration and document it with images.  With that said, here's a sneak peak of some of my inspiration mood pics.
